Hi,

I am almost on the verge of finalizing a Haas SL20 to add to my setup. I am wondering if anyone here has used or is aware of Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) on a CNC lathe.

I am beginning to find coolant in all machining operations to be messy and was wondering if anyone here has it implemented in their lathe.

I usually machine low-carbon alloy steel (SAE 8620) and the like and operations are mainly general turning and drilling, very little of threading or grooving.

Regards,

Haas does offer an option on their mills called MOM (Minimum Oil Machining), I am not sure whether it is available on the lathes or not.

You are welcome to visit my website www.helicopterjohn.com and look at some of the videos that I have made to describe some of the lubrication/chip removal systems that I have designed for use with my HAAS TM-1P. Just click on the gallery button at the top of the main page to access the videos.

The videos may give you some ideas for a system that would be helpful in your lathe operations. The controls are pretty much the same on all the HAAS machines. I am not sure about the lathes and how many M function relays come standard.
