hi
i drilling holes on a cylinder in a 4 axis machine, we are having problems and would like to see how it works with others.
ok, so we go drill a hole then to move to the next line it takes about 70 lines of code to move to the next hole where in our old software it was just 1 line to rotae and move to next hole, drill
old software we could canned drilling cycle, here it's all feed moves no canned cycle
how does it work for you?
thanks

What software are you using? Does the code get the part done?
Lots of software uses as generic a code as possible so that it is able to be loaded on a variety of machines. You may be able to find an updated post file for your control in order to take advantage of your machine's features.

Some posts have a switch for G0/G1 or canned cycles. Or this can be easily added. Check the parameters or call your OM office/dealer for support.

thanks
now will that just turn on the canned cycle and fix it so it just uses 1 line to rotate/ move to next hole or will there still be 60-80 line of roate/move to get to the next hole?
thanks

Sorry Yaman - we need more info as many posts have different characteristics to match the capability of the machine.
Often, OPEN MIND uses multiple point connection between holes on different angles intentionally. When doing this, the path is close to the part and the path is collision checked. Long strokes in multi-axis may not be safe. The taken approach can be a big win as the cutter will not be constantly running to a distant safe position.
There are also some software settings that may control the point density and other related functions.
Again, this is a generic discussion without much details about your machine or the geometry. Best to send such details to your office or dealer.
