Can check valves do the same job as a flashback protector? I know a three hose is more likely to pop/flash during pre-heat, so I am wondering if a check valve will do the trick. Space is a concern or I would do the FBA's.
Thanks!

WSS-
They make the FBA that mount on the tanks. They don't use that much room.

Steve,
Thanks! I should have added a picture of where I was hoping to put them. I want to protect the solenoids and the cables that run next to the hoses in the cable carrier. I do have Hi-flow FBA's at the tanks, but also want to add the extra protection. Murphy hangs out around here when he has nothing better to do!

I have them mounted on my machine torch thay are only about 1" long, can be seen in attached pic. as well as a set at the regs.

That is the correct way Millman. Around here you will get a WISHA (Washington state safety people) citation without a set on the regulators if they check on you. I presume it is an OSHA reg also but don't know for sure.
Do you guys think a check vale is enough to stop a fire chasing back into the hoses or solenoids? Check valves flow better than flashback arrestors for sure and have a small footprint as well as I see in millman52's pic! That would be problem solved. I should add why I am trying to figure it out. I had a fire run back through to some solenoids and ruin them. The fire stopped at the FBAs (which were hooked to the intake side of the solenoids). The reason it happened was a loose tip. I could hear the tip snapping fast and hard from my office and by the time I got my butt out there it was sending out smoke signals. Employees are expensive sometimes. He survived, as current federal and state laws forbid me from knocking him off his perch.

I think I'd use the FBAs at least you know they are approved for the application. Should someone get injured from the use of checkvalves you have automatically opened yourself up to liability.
