Nice job. Your a guy after my own heart, I scrape beg and borrow to build my current cnc project.
Are you going to enclose the power supply after the 3rd geko arrives?
thanks guys
Yes I am going to house the power supply
I still need limit switches and need to clean up some wiring, etc.
now I have to figure out how to use it
I have purchased Mach2 and am playing around with it some
I have made a few cuts with it
power supply is 48v (rewired transformer)
steppers are nema34. 180oz.-in. y and z, 370 on x bipolar series wired
I had a lot of help from reading posts on this forum!

Can you give us a detailphoto of your bearingdesign?
Would help me a lot :)
Nice looking machine you've got there!
I will take some closeup pics when I get a chance
I used an old drafting machine from an old desk I no longer use for the x axis
beefed it up a little
the y axis is black pipe over drill rod with homemade oillite bronze bushings fitted and a nut over the end that can be adjusted to tighten the bearing as it wears
the z axis is rods from old printers with oillite bronze bushings fitted
a real hodgepodge of whatever I had laying around but it does work
some parts are cast aluminum from scraps, some are steel welded up, some are wood
my first 2 1/2 D routing
cut from 3/4 expanded pvc
next project will definately be vac. hose attachment!
