This is what I have in mind for my Motor/driver/power supply set-up.

You can get a Xylotex 3 axis board for $150. It uses the same chip as the Salem board, so I'm guessing the performance is similar.

Nonoriginal, You are missing a few things.
You need the motor cables to go with the Automation Direct motors. I think that they are about $10 each.

But if you want to use the Salem Controls you will also need their breakout board and a parallel cable from the computer to the breakout board. Add another $35 total.

Well the specs. for their power supplies are incorrect that is milliamps not amps. So a 24 VDC supply at 2.5 amps X 3 = $120. Hmmmmmm....you need an enclosure to stuff the controller and power supplies. If you go with a different controller you'll probably need a different connector for Salem's power supplies.

Ok, I was in a hurry... 15 min. break at work...of course I will need the cables! :D

Thanks for the reminder about Xylotex Gerry! I would assume the performance is similar as well... I will investigate further.

I'll keep searching for power supplies...maybe even break down and buy Xylo's control box with power supply.

$150+$80+power supply+misc cables = drivable 276 oz/in bipolar steppers. :cheers:

A lot of Xylotex users use power supplies from MPJA. Here's a 28V for $39.95 http://www.mpja.com/productview.asp?product=15367+PS

The motors you list are 2.8 amp motors, and the A3977 based drives like the Xylotex and Salem are only 2.5 amps max, so you will not get full torque from these drives.
