View Full Version : How much do you guys pay for Dies ?

Hi

I am based in the UK and have started a scrapbooking and cardmaking business.

Earlier this year I bought a swing beam clicker press and have had a couple
of simple dies made, however I would love to have many more made but find
the price here in the UK quite expensive.

Just wondering how much everyone would expect to pay for their dies ?
For instance, the latest die I have is to cut out 2" squares, I think you
might call it a 12-up, ie its a block 3x4 and cuts out 12 2" squares.

I was thinking, based on a couple of threads I have read, that it may
be worth me finding a friendly helpful die maker in the US who would
be willing to post to me in the UK and happy to make dies for of a 'girlie'
nature - flowers, cats, snowflakes etc etc ;)

Hi Luci,
You can post an RFQ in the RFQwork forum. You'll need to post an actual drawing file (like a dxf cad file) for best response. Getting a quote from someone is the best way to find out 'what we pay' over here ;) :D

You might also post a picture of one of the dies that you do have, so some would have an idea of what is involved besides cutting the outline.

$200 up to $750 (US) depends upon size, length of cutting blade, and complexity.

I'd like recommendations for a steel rule die place too. I got a quote from apple die and they seem pretty good (all though they are the first quote I've gotten). Around 50 bucks for the attached 2"x2" design. Would like to get more quotes too to cross-ref. Any suggestions?

$50 sounds pretty good for all the angles you have. Find out about sharpening service to put new edges on the blades if you use it that much or the material abrasive or you screw up. A 2" x 2" die is fairly small and you have a lot of little 'finicky' angles. All of it will be cut on CNC but getting the blades in is a different process.
