I'm just finishing the X & Y Axis, as shown on photo gallery "damonshaw01"
I now need to turn my attention to the Z Axis, but the biggest problem I've got, Is what router/motor to use for the cutting.

I intend to mostly cut wood but I would also like to have the option to cut metals. I would also like to know what router/milling pieces, people are using and what they use them for. I.e Cutting, shaping, photo's etc..

I look forward to your receiving your ideas

The choice of router, laminate trimmer, or Dremel tool will be determined by the in/lb rating of your stepper motor on the different axis.

If you have a very low in/lb rating on your steppers, you might want to go with a Dremel tool. If the rating is 100 in/lb or better, you might want to go with a laminate trimmer. For High powered units which are rated > 250 in/lb you might consider a full size 3 HP router.

I personally am using a Porter Cable 7310 laminate trimmer. Lots of folks are using the DeWalt laminate trimmer. These 2 units use 1/4" router bits.

Hope this helps.

Do you have plans available for the CNC router table made from aluminum in your pictures. Is there a special name for the aluminum you used?
