I have done some searching on the Zone, but I don't find any home brewed examples of a cnc plasma pipe/tubing cutter. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas to share?

Me too, i want to cut some 5/8" holes thru. 0.060" thick wall stainless tube.
Its 2.5" od tube so will only drop .040" at the edges. Some one must be able to do this.

I've been looking at some videos on the web of industrial type tube cutters as well as the Torchmate & Dynatorch add-ons. I don't think it would be that difficult. I notice that most high end round tube cutters feed the stock through a rotary chuck with a fixed torch. The Torchmate and others rotate the stock and move the torch (easier to do).

If we were to design one...what is the maximum size tubing stock that everyone feels would be useful for a home shop type machine?

Does it need to be able to handle square tubing as well? This would add another axis to the mix...
