View Full Version : DSP Question
Blunderbum 07-30-2009, 03:30 AM Hi Guys, I need some help.
I am using Vectric cut 3D to create the g code and output is G Code mm (*.tap).
I then insert the USB drive into the DSP and run the file, it goes through it check file and for some reasons it has be stopping at 86% on one file then I tried another file and it went to 98.86%.
When I actually ran the 86% file it only cut 86% so I am a little confused.
Should it check to 100% if so why isn't it?
cabnet636 07-30-2009, 06:24 AM open the code in notepad and insure it saved all of the data!!
i have pulled the stick after loading a vectric file and found it did not finish loading

Blunderbum 07-30-2009, 06:42 AM How do I insure that all the code is their, Im happy to post it for you to look at if you can.
cabnet636 07-30-2009, 06:54 AM it should want to return to xy0 at the end of the file

rocket67 07-30-2009, 07:50 AM Simon, Ramon is at work tomorrow ( Friday ).
If you can find the time - come and see us. Maybe bring your USB stick and also the DSP Controller
We can download some crv files from the vectric website, load them onto your USB stick and try them out on our machine. If that goes OK we could then plug in your DSP Controller and try the same thing.
Our 3 new machines should arrive next week sometime - so i do not mind playing around with our current machine now in order to try to sort out your problem. Our DSP cable is a bit dicky ( Jerry is supposed to be sending a replacement..... Well that was a month ago! ), but we should be able to make it work.
Look forward to seeing you if you can make it.
Rocket.
rocket67 07-30-2009, 07:59 AM Jim, Your links continue to teach and inform us.
Good on ya mate!

Blunderbum 07-30-2009, 08:00 AM Thanks for your help James, and i'm a big fan of your work.
Rod,
I will bring my bits down tomorrow and see how we go. Thank goodness you are nearby.
See ya tomorrow.
cabnet636 07-30-2009, 08:02 AM just try'in to keep the old brain functioning!!

Blunderbum 07-31-2009, 07:18 AM Just a quick update, I took my file and DSP to to Rockets place today to test out.
1. We tested my file on Rockets machine and have a guess what happen - It worked perfectly.
2. We then connected my DSP to Rockets machine and tested the same file and yep, it worked perfectly.
3. Now that I started to look like a numpty I decided to take my bits home and test it out again on my CNC.
4. Got home connected the DSP and loaded the file and it worked perfectly again. So now I am a real numpty.
OH by the way Rocket, thankyou for letting Ramon help me out today. I now have a bit more confidence to push forward and start cutting my molds.
Thanks guys.
rocket67 07-31-2009, 08:37 AM Simon, That is excellent news.
So it was just one of those inexplicable glitches.
Only one thing to do now

rocket67 08-03-2009, 05:18 AM Simon, How did you go with the machine over the weekend?
Rocket.
Blunderbum 08-04-2009, 06:15 AM Rod, I didn't get any done. I picked up 12 sheets of 2400x1200x32mm MDF sheets on Saturday in preperation for some serious machining on Sunday. Unfortunatley my plans didn't work out, I had to go out to the Engineering Excellence awards Saturday night and had to much red wine after winning two awards. I wasted the whole of Sunday with a real bad hangover(chair).
Cheers,
Simon
rocket67 08-04-2009, 11:01 AM No need to beat yourself up about it.http://cnczone.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif
To win TWO awards is fantastic! Congratulations.
Watch out for that red wine - it will rot your guts. Hope you can remember the whole night!
Tell us about the awards you won.

Blunderbum 08-09-2009, 06:34 AM I knocked up a couple of simple exhaust flanges from my UAV today. They were cut from 8mm alloy plate and I broke one cutter on the first attempt. For some reason the spindle rpm drops down to S6 when it starts cutting even tho I have set it to S2. I can't figure out why this is happening. The breakout lugs on the parts worked perfect, I didn't even have to cut them, all I had to do was wobbly the part and it fell out.
rocket67 08-09-2009, 08:35 AM You are off to a pretty good start.
Sounds like the DSP is going to the default value of 2
Maybe alter the spindle speed through the inverter and see how it goes. There is a discussion on this in the " How to operate the Excitech" thread. In particular - see Taney`s post (no.11) on the thread.

ddanutz1 08-13-2009, 05:12 AM Does anybody know how to modify the coordinates in DSP handle ?
I sometimes take the origin not in 0,0 but other values, is it possible to input these manually in DSP ?
Blunderbum 08-15-2009, 05:24 AM Well I finally had a bit more success today, got one part rough cut with a 12mm end mill and final cut with a long series 8mm ball nose cutter.
ddanutz1 08-17-2009, 04:48 AM Hello, once again, does anybody know how to modify the coordinates in DSP handle ?
I sometimes take the origin not in 0,0 but other values, is it possible to input these manually in DSP ?
Thank you !
