Well, after lurking here for a couple of weeks, downloading a bunch of demo software, pictures and files, I've ordered some parts from McMaster and from Enco to build my first CNC router. I've decided to build simple for #1, with ball bearing drawer slides, baltic birch ply and hobby CNC 3 axis package. As soon as there is something to see, I'll post some pictures. My main goal is to make signs and name plates, but the converted jpg's really have me intrigued also. Wish me luck and thanks for all the expert (?) opinions and information.

Sounds like a practical approach. Good luck. I need to get my butt in gear-I've scrounged tons of "stuff" (enough that I'm already selling some off), but need to get building. Make sure you post some pics when you get going. :o
