pike after using and trying several sources of ldf (trupan is a brand), i am more than convinced i get just as good performance with mdf, it just was not enough increase to justify the effort.

Thank Jim, is the L for Light? I got a sample of Trupan at a show and it is lighter and seems alot more porous than the MDF sheets I get at the Home Depot.
I wanted to try it as a sacrifical table top.
