Anyone know how you record when you are using the conversational programming system on the new Haas control. My manual and the web site shows that you go to the conversational programming tabs on the DNC menu and then tab over to the last tab which is supposed to be "system" That works fine on my 18 month old Haas. But on my new one (delivered in March) there is no "system" tab on the conversational menu. This machine has the new Haas control. The last tab on this new control I have is "VQC". No system tab anywhere in all the menu's and sub menu's that I can find. So where do I find the record function that was under "system" in the past so I can build fully functional programs? Yes I called my HFO for help. They said that they didn't know where it was but I should just learn g code anyway. Yeah, yeah I am doing as I learn CNC but I also bought the Haas partly to use the conversational stuff! Needless to say their answer wasn'texactly helpful. Anyone here familiar with the new control that could direct me where to look?

hercules,
If you look right under the graphic picture there should be a message that says press F4 to record output to a program.

OK thanks I see it now. I am so used to the old control that I was locked in on looking everywhere for the old recorder screen. Doh! I will defend my stupidity a bit by noting that the first thing I did was refer to the manual that came with the machine and it shows the old style recorder screen and does not say anything about the F4 function. The demo slide pack I down loaded off the web site showed the same but I don't remember when I downloaded that one so maybe my copy was outdated? Anyway, got it now. Thanks!
At the risk of another stupid question, one more question then. When I use F4 to record and use the "add to existing program" option it always puts the new code at the top of the program in memory. Is there a way I can get it to add the new code at the end of or in the middle of the existing program? I tried moving the cursor to different spots in the existing program before using the record function but no luck with that. It still always defaults to putting new code at the start. I am trying to add a part off operation to the end of an existing program and a chamfer operation between two other ops in the same program. There is noting in my manual about how to do this because it talks about the old style system. Perhaps there is something new on the Haas web site? I will go look there tonight.

hercules,
I will take a look at it and let you know. You can also email the Applications department at applications@HaasCNC.com for help. I was a bit surprised at the response you got from you HFO. Can you tell me who that is.

hercules,
I was just fooling around with IPS and I was able to record the operation to any place in my current program. I just used the hand wheel to get down to where I wanted and then pressed write.

Ah thank you, thank you! I see what I was doing wrong now. I was putting the existing program in edit, placing the cursor where I wanted the new code, then hitting f4 and write. Instead I needed to hit f4 first, then place the cursor and then hit enter. I just had the sequence wrong. I appreciate the help! I knew it must be something simple but I couldn't see what I was doing wrong.
You asked about HFO .... Selway.
