Nice Job, looks great... if i lived closer you could use my cnc plasma for your weather vane. I started playing around with aluminum on my table a few days ago, so far i am really happy with the results. It is alot easier to work with and finish then steel, and best part is it wont rust, i just need to learn alum welding and what type of finish is best as i heard normal tremclad etc doesnt stay on very long, personally i prefer to just leave it bare metal. I cut this horse out yesterday.

how thick of aluminum have you cut and how slow (rpm wise can you go to cut)
I'm using routers so i was cutting at 10k rpm but the aluminum is very thin so its no big deal, you project looks a bit thicker

Hi, this alum is 3/16 thick, i cut it at around 150 ipm @ 80 amp with the plasma. I had been wanting to try cutting alum for quite some time now and a guy i know gave me a few end peices to try. I was really surprised at how nice it cuts and how easy the clean up is.
What part of Ontario are you in, i was born in Guelph and raised up in the New Liskeard area, moved to Manitoba 23 years ago. I got the cnc bug a few years ago and have just got to the stage where im trying to start earning money at it, my marketing skills arent that great though, the easy part is making things, the tuff part is trying to sell it...lol
Nice job on the cuppola, looks fantastic!!
