Hi! :)

I'm trying to find a decent solution for a 4th axis for my little X1.

It would be nice to see some that you guys have, and some suggestions for ready-made parts.

Building my own is an option, and I have been looking at CNC-ing this Axminster rotary table (http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Axminster-100mm-Rotary-Table-33376.htm) which I've not used since I first purchased my X1 ;) but the backlash is pretty bad.

Another problem with the rotary table is the lack of a center hole, for holding longer shafts, and how do I attack a chuck to it?

Hope you can offer some advice :)
Thanks

Hi,
I have just finished my conversion but at times I had wished I had never started. Main problem is in fitting some form of thrust bearings to take the loads of the stepper system. This caused problems due to the limited space available inside the table.
The one I bought was the 10mm one from Chronus and the room inside was very limited.
The table I have has a 2mt hole in the centre but I have jsut purchased a 80mm chuck but have still to fit it.
My advice would be plane the conversion as much as you can and then take your time as you could end up like me with no road back as I had to machine parts of the table so it cannot be put back as it was!
