This question may have been asked many times before but I can't find it so...

Do I really need to have a torch hieght control? I have seen and reproduced a "stand-off" sleeve for the torch itself. Bascially this sleeve conects to the torch and sets the hieght. What I was thinking is in order to lessen the cost can't I use this idea and incorporate a tension spring system that keeps this stand off in contact with the plate being cut. This would work kinda like a floating head idea. Has anyone tried this? And how did it work? :rolleyes:
