Can a bad air pressure regulator ruin a motor for a Standard Router Milling CNC?

Bad is the operative term here. I have ran into situations where the FRL unit was allowing unusual amounts of water to pass through, overtime rusting internal components of the router. Depending on the initial quality of the router, fluctuations in air pressure could potentially cause issues with tool retention and the drawbar.
Hope this helps!
