View Full Version : Calculating gear ratios? CNCadmin 01-17-2005, 08:24 AM This is to benefit myself and others. What is the formula for calculating gear ratios? HuFlungDung 01-17-2005, 09:45 AM ratio of a compound gear set = (product of driver gears)/(product of driven gears) inverse of Pi = 1/Pi Al_The_Man 01-17-2005, 10:04 AM On a related topic, if you require information on ratio of timing belts, including the centre distance calculator etc , Stock Drive Products have a CD called the 'World of Timing belts' they may have it for download now. BTW the first half of their free gear catalogues read like engineering manuals on gears. And yes, the catalogs are a breath of fresh air arent they? Dylan CNCadmin 01-17-2005, 01:47 PM That's OK, but the site would be a lot better if you could put in the ratio and it would give you all the combinations of pulleys that can be used. That page is really just for calculation the belt length for a give pulley combinations. When you're trying to get a gear ration based on pie for a belt driven system it's takes a little bit more work. I found this bit of info- http://www.sdp-si.com/D260/PDF/part1.pdf arvidb 01-27-2005, 10:39 AM *snip* What is /.../ the inverse of pie? That would be carrots. (Sorry just couldn't resist it :D.) Arvid Ito-Brazil 02-03-2005, 04:57 PM Hey Admin: Nice document! Thank you! sumit.ghatak 06-20-2008, 11:01 PM where can i find the Gear ratio calculator software?????? Mike Everman 06-20-2008, 11:36 PM where can i find the Gear ratio calculator software?????? Gear ratio for what? sumit.ghatak 06-21-2008, 12:13 AM for all kind of gears I need the gear ratio calculator Mike Everman 06-21-2008, 12:25 AM for all kind of gears I need the gear ratio calculator Can you be more specific? A gear ratio is number of teeth over number of teeth. Asking for a gear ratio calculator is like asking for triangle point counting software. I am not trying to be insulting. ;-) I'm sure it is a language thing. Have you followed the links below? What are you trying to do? sumit.ghatak 06-21-2008, 10:53 AM Hi there Mike. you see ,I am no Engineer my self. the gear ratio calculator I need is for my father ,he is an engineer himself but he is currently out of station, and it is very difficult for me to arrange the software for him. well let me tell you some thing....the software comes with Dr. Gears website I have tried it, but it seems to a trial version and I need A full version ,,,now my request is can you tell me where can I find the full version , thanks buddy Mike Everman 06-21-2008, 06:22 PM Hi there Mike. you see ,I am no Engineer my self. the gear ratio calculator I need is for my father ,he is an engineer himself but he is currently out of station, and it is very difficult for me to arrange the software for him. well let me tell you some thing....the software comes with Dr. Gears website I have tried it, but it seems to a trial version and I need A full version ,,,now my request is can you tell me where can I find the full version , thanks buddy I don't have time to look up the software you are talking about, and it sounds like you want someone to pirate it for you. That I won't do either. ciao |
