I am considering Turbo Cad. I use Pro E at work but the maintenance costs more than the Turbo Cad package. Can ayone offer a comparison of the two packages.

I have used TurboCAD for a few years now (since Version 7), and have always liked the feel of it and how to do things with it.

Last fall I was visiting my son at college, and his roommate was working on a CAD project. I asked what he was using, and he said, "Pro-E." I asked if I could play with it for a while, and spent about 20 minutes trying to draw a box. I was very underwhelmed with Pro-E.

Maybe it's what you learn first, but I really like TurboCAD's data entry boxes at the bottom of the screen for moving things around. Sometimes you just know where you want it or how much you want to move it, so you just click and type. It seemed nearly impossible to me with Pro-E.

Like most big software, TurboCAD has its bugs. It has gotten pretty stable at least, so I no longer worry about sudden crashes. Download a trial and test it for a few days. You might like it.

Good luck with your choice!
