We have been trying for a few month off and on (nothing serious)to cast small parts out of brass using HSS and carbon steel molds and a tempering kiln (5000'F cap). the closest we have come is using fine cuttings on top of the molds, letting the metal drip in. This usually succedes in boiling (not litteraly) off the zink and giving us a small pile of copper that more resembles some abstract sculpture than anything else.
Is there some way of acctually getting this to work? Can we do this with out sand molds and high pressures?
To emphasize, we are just screwing around with a little extra scrap and alot of extra time, so any help that reqiuers far reaching expensive solutions will be imensly appreciated and subsequently ignored.
thank you for your comments.:rainfro:
