Here is an example of what happens to a Dynatorch when you lose your building lease. The table is a 5 x 10 custom built for the Dynatorch gantry.

It may be just me, but your DT's new home looks more comfortable and possibly a shorter commute for you. Nice table, looks strong. Will the casters come off when you get it set-up? I have had a 100' commute for 15 years and love it.

WSS, you are right the Dynatorch now lives at the home shop. The economy is very ugly right now and forced our move. As for the casters, they were only temporary and removed when the machine reached its new home. The frame is 3 x 8 x 3/16 tube.

You are right about the economy. We have been slow since the last quarter of 06' (about 30 percent), then in Oct. 08 it was like everyone went to sleep or went into hiding. I do feel a bit optomistic though. We have seen some small increase in the "right" type of work (you know... they want/need it know!). About a month ago I turned off the news, it was setting my pace and I figured all those who listen were affected also. Keep your head down and do what it is that you do and the light will shine again.

You may have noticed I am new, but I have been watching the DT forum for a few months. I have not built a machine since 2001 and have noted a few changes. I no longer have a stack of catalogs and reference books or manuals around. Instead I have folders stuffed with web links and .pdf's.

We are looking to purchase a DT 6X12 (oxy/fuel mainly) soon and get through the learning curve before the economy breaks loose. Right now I am running a couple of 3axis weld tables that impregnate Tungsten Carbide via a mig spray onto AR plate and cutting edges, hence the need for a fast CNC table, To make short run and hard to get cutting edges and moldboards for CAT and other makes. I will probably lean toward your 3X8 tube approach to hold the weight. Will yours hold a 5X10 sheet of 2.5" plate?
