hows come when i change the tool from the 1/2 ball that came with the system..... to a 1/8 .030r endmill, manually...( the 1/8 is still there when i reopen) ... bobcad still gives me a program(toolpath) with the .250 radius of the 1/2 ball tool.
this happens in v22 and v23.
thanks for any replies, chuck

When you edit a tool in a feature, it will automatically be added to the tool database. Next time you start to type .125 with a corner radius of .0625 it will automatically select the tool you had created previously.

If you create a toolpath, then change the tool settings, you have to compute the toolpath again to have it reflect the new tool value.

if i pick select tool it will show me the tool that i have typed in there.
if i pick manual tool and type in what i want it will record what i type.
but both of these when i rerun the toolpath it still gives me the toolpath of the 1/2 diameter .250r end mill.

if i edit thesystem tool it will give me the correct path most of the time but i cant edit the tool number when i pick system tool...

so select tool will enter all of my data in the lines but it still gives me the 1/2 by .250 rad cutter toolpath, i can tell cuz the tool path lines arc way off the geometry. ( even when i pick recompute tool path)

is there something else im doing wrong.
thanks, chuck

If you want to manually add tools, do this from the "milling tools-tools" edit dialogue, not a feature edit. This may be what your experiencing.

I believe V22 had some issues with manual tools that others here may know more about how to deal with. If you just specify your tool definition from the feature edit dialogue, then the toolpath will adjust accordingly.

Also if you want to set your own tool numbers, Right click milling tools and choose Verify Tool Assignment. Deselect Use Automatic tool numbering and renumber your tools.
