I'm waiting my "little baby" coming home so I think may be a good idea start an Official thread on this machine.
Some guys on this forum bought it and could help newbie like me or others who want to buy.

If not useful delete the post :D

Dear friend ,
I have bought from China 3 weeks ago an XYZ 6090 and i am in big trouble still.By the look of the pictures of your baby it MAKE a big difference compare to mine. Can you please advise if it came with NC studio program?Did you have any problem with it?
Looking forward for your reply.

Regards
George

PS:regarding your question of maintenance of the CNC,the most and above all rules from all is clean rails, and sharp tools.

Hi.
First i don't know what's the Ncstudio, but if I correctly understand:
The SHM0609 router is provided by the DSP controller that accept the Gcode.

I found on the forum some posts concerning the NCstudio, hope it help:

Dear friend
thanks for the reply, and the company who sell the router is XYZ-TECH_CNC_Equipment_Co_Ltd.

You see i have bought from the States a new card so i can work with Mach3 instead of the NCstudio wich the router came with. After some reading and searching i came to a STOP with the instalation because the router it has a Hight Frequency inverter to control speed on the motor( DZB brand 200model).
The reason i have ask you for more information is to advise if you can and obviously if possible for you,to send me a photo of your installation regarding the four wires coming out of the bottom of the inverter .In the standard small break out board(BOB)which came with it goes on a fuse with the following order G(red),1,2,3.
What program yours came with?
Is it able to work with Mach or?

Looking forward for your reply

George

George, my router is on the way (I'm waiting it within 3 weeks) so unfortunately I can't help you.
You can try to send a PM to charnwooduk, a forum member, he got the router 3 weeks ago and may help you.

Take care

Dear friend
thanks for the reply, and the company who sell the router is XYZ-TECH_CNC_Equipment_Co_Ltd.

I suspect that this is a different company to Excitech.

I found this picture of the "XYZ-tech" 0609 and it looks like a different machine to the one excitech produce - http://www.ttnet.net/show_html.jsp/cnc-router/SS/cartno/86.147.182.216212008xv/oday/2009-03-05/prdhtm/Y/cono/10151092/item_no/3/itno/MA377/dtno/000/type1/A

I am using the DSP to control the machine so cannot advise on how to set-up with mach 3

Yeah, it's not the same router.
Also specifications are different.

Charnwooduk, tell me your impressions after 3 weeks of SHM0609 use.

What type of maintenace you did when you got the router at home?

Thanks

Charnwooduk, tell me your impressions after 3 weeks of SHM0609 use.

What type of maintenace you did when you got the router at home?

For maintainance, i simply removed the dust covers for the rails, wiped everything clean and applied lots of grease to the lead&ball screws and wiped oil over the rails.

Also the machine bed was not quite flat, but as it is a hard plastic "foam", it is easy to mill flat (you can see the pattern left in my pictures.. bed is now perfectly flat.

I also adjusted the position of the spindle as it was mounted too low. The new position gives the full 120mm of travel (this is a two minute job to complete)

I am using the VFD control panel to operate the spindle as it did not seem 100% reliable from the DSP, although I have not spent time to investigate the issue (set function F00 to 4 and F01 to 0 on the VFD to enable this)

Made a vacuum hold down table for cutting some small rohacell parts (see pictures).

90% of my machine time is cutting 3D, as I am not worried about saving time, my 2D routing is not at very agressive depths.

Thanks.

Did you used a gcode to flat the bed or manually via the USB controller?

Router received.
As first impression it's a good costruction.

As wrote the costruction is overall good.
The only thing is that you can't use a transpallet to lift up the router, there are no solid beams at the bottom.
I already emailed this to Taney and he prompt reply me that this will be improved.

I will post others pictures next days.

Thanks Jim!
Yours compliments are very welcome.

Hope to help some one and help Exitech to improove this router.

Some little things to do (like, not little, remove it from the wood base) and start working.
Cleaned all the rails and the balls screw from the rust protective and grease them.

Next step is to understand the DSP.

Z-zero tool using:

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww263/woodworker73/z-zero.jpg

This is what Taney reply me about the Z-zero tool:

First count the thickness of the brass block, input the thickness value of the tool sensor into the DSP handle: MENU--MACHINE SETUP--C.A.D Thickness.

Then press MENU+ON/OFF togehter and relase the two buttons at the same time, the spindle will go down, when the tool tip touch the sensor the spindle will go up, and the system will remember the Z-0 point

I will test it today and let you know.

I’ve used one of these 6090 cnc and was impressed with the DSP control and Type3 cad cam software

If the DSP card is connected to the spindle inverter correctly you can choose the speed just before you run a program and can change speed on the fly by pressing Z+ or Z- when running a program.

I’ve spent some time working out what all the features on the DSP controller do

Some are very useful but are not explain fully in the manual

Like using multiple origin points, you can save up to 10 different sets of XYZ zero points to run programs from.

woodworker73
06-30-2009, 06:13 AM
Nick, if possible, please share it :D

I'm cutting 100% wood and use the spindle always at 24000rpm but in future I need to change the rpm.

Do you know how to use the pannel potentiometer to change the rpm?

Thanks

nick965
06-30-2009, 07:11 AM
Yes and no, the pannel potentiometer is not for changing the spindle speed

The speed is controlled by a digital out put from the DSP it moves up and down in 3000 rpm steps, ie OFF then 6000 then 9000 up to 24000

Your DSP controller may be set up wrong like mine was if you don’t have this option

If you press and hold down the on/off key then press Z+ or Z- and let go SWITCH GRADE should be displayed on the screen you should be able to go from 1 to 7 by repeating this.

Please email me directly at nick965(A)fromruDOTcom

I have information I don’t want to post directly in the web

I’ve had a look at your previous pictures and can see that the DSP Card is connected to the inverter so you should be able to control the spindle speed

When you run a program the spindle should start automatically and stop when the program has finished

If you look at the arrow on the picture blue LED’s should come on in sequence when you change speed ( all off = spindle off, first one on is 6000rpm, second is 9000, second and first is 12000, third is 15000, third and first is 18000, third and second is 21000, all three is 24000) this is how my machine worked

The potentiometer is for minor adjustments and the red led screen displays the inverter status (if you stall/overload the spindle it will cut power to it and display an error message) you should not have to change the settings for the invertors unless you fit a different spindle motor

Many thanks Nich to spread your knowledge, very appreciated ;)
I think this his is the right place where share it!

A waring to all european customers:

starting from May 1st European Commission banned the silica gel, containing more than 0.1 ppm of dimethylfumarate, from goods import:

http://www.sud-chemie.com/scmcms/web/page_en_7438.htm

ask Taney to remove silica bags from shipment or use Süd-Chemie and send you a declaration.

Hi all,

i`am about to get me a SHM0609 with a 3KW HSD spindle and was wondering if the frame, ball screws, steppers etc. can handle the forces of a 1/2 diameter ball nose bit.

cabnet636
09-07-2009, 07:49 AM
yes 1/2" is not over rated for the 0609 it is a relationship of material type, depth of cut, feed and spindle rpm that determine this, one could use a 1/2" bit on a much smaller machine it would just take more time, the 0609 is a strong machine.

Thanks cabnet636, i was hoping that i`d get a better surface with less passes in a shorter time by using a larger bit, could you explain how it would take more time please?

there is a major difference in a .5hp router and a 3 hp spindle

Got it, you meant the spindle by "machine", so a more powerful spindle just means more cutting depth. Thanks again.

Last one is of sticking down some MDF, at this time I am trialing the glues, the first is a MDF based glue the weakest of the lot and which should be the easiest to remove.

I spent a good amount of time cleaning the rails and lubing them up.

I went with a smaller machine because of the smaller cost and if I need to get rid of my factory in February I can move it to my house as its small and single phase.

Import costs for a 600x900 machine using the free shipping service from Excitech was $1991.13 that includes $200 for a customs broker and $80 for delivery, to give anyone else a idea on pricing.

Good little machine, the keypad on the front doesnt really do much my run button does nothing but it can easily be run from the DSP.

I lubed it all up friday and today, most of the time was taken to get the bellows off, I manually cut some aluminium and it ran great, tommorow im hoping to cut some aluminium supports for a larger machine I am building myself.
