Hi all, We have a KIA va-50 cnc mill with a fanuc 10 control. Lately we have been getting this alarm on start-up in the morning. The table is roughly centered in it's travel, so it's no where near the limit switches. We normally can't reset the alarm for what ever reason. If we let it sit for a while, say an hour, sometimes then we can reset it. We've been leaving the control on to avoid the alarm, but yesterday we had a power surge that set off another alarm and we couldn't clear it, so we had to power down the machine, and now we have the overtravel issue again, but now it won't clear up. We are trying to convince the boss to trash it, but we could still use it very much in the short term.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Chappyd

If you are sure it is a hard overtravel, then you can confirm it in the diagnostic or on screen ladder if you have it.
This would eliminate the L.S. or wiring.
The O.T.'s are dedicated inputs and are active low, which means they are open or 0 on overtravel. If a OT input shows a 0 then you know for sure it is and external problem.

Thanks for the reply.

The actual alarm message is:

0T007 Y + OVERTRAVEL (HARD)
0T008 Y - OVERTRAVEL (HARD)

The Y axis is physically in the middle of it's travel. I tied looking in the diagnostics page, but it's all pretty greek to me. If you could give me a specific path to get to it, I would really appreciate it. I've never had to get this involved in the troubleshooting of machines up until now.

Thanks,

Dave
