Hi guys

I know this is CNC forum but I'm hoping your expertise can help me out with a non CNC query :)

I'm looking to buy a benchtop mill, but will only be using it for manual work. It's for use in model engineering, mainly on fairly small steel, aluminium and brass parts.

I've done some research and there are 3 that I think fit the bill but would like some feedback as to which would be best suited to my needs, if one is regarded as being better build quality than another or if they are all much of a muchness etc

The contenders are

Many Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim,

I'm at work where our internet connection won't let me look at your links. From what I understand of your intended uses, a Taig seems to be the best. I think Taigs are sold under a different name in the UK.

Good luck,

Don

The X3 is the most bang for the buck in this range. Arc Eurotrade is a good company to buy it from:

In a smaller mill, the Taig is the way to go.

rigidity wise and capacity wise they are all about the same, but that said the xj-25 is the one with the strongest motor and by far wich in my opinion is the best bet just because of that since the rest is about the same, weight wise the ama25-v is in fact lighter but i have one that i have retrofitted with a 1000watts motor and i can do as much work on it as i could on my syil x4 if it was manual so honestly i would definitly go with the xj-25.
