Hi all. I have been a Dynatorch user / advocate for 3 years. I have built a dual x system using rack and pinion running various Plasma generators and have learned alot and enjoyed the process. I have read numerous forums here but cannot state I have found or seen them all.

I am now about to build a new xy table system using a belt to drive both the x and y axis. I would like to use a Dynatorch kit as I feel the software is easy to learn and very affordable as is the control box and smart motor configs they can suppy.

My concern is that I have not come across anyone who has done specifically what I intend and I am wondering if it truly possible and what I may be missing from the puzzle.

I would be most grateful to hear from anyone with advice or experience in this undertaking.

Hi
I'm curious as to the why belts also, the only thing i can think of is you want to build a heavier gantry and use belt and pulley to slow down the speed and increase the torque for a router or something other than plasma. Just wondering is all because i have a Dynatorch also and really cant see any benifit of a belt system compared to the gear/rack for plasma.

The Fastcut CNC has Dynatorch hardware as well as their software. They have designed it as an enclosed belt driven system. http://www.fastcutcnc.com/g6-fabricator.php

KPT, check out the B&B system. Round rail linear and ballscrews. They last along time, millions of inches of travel. a DT smart motor system and software with a set-up like this would be neat....You first of course.
