You need to run ug_convert_part.exe. It cannot be converted from within UG. The ug_convert_part program must be run from the command prompt. I would suggest reading the help docs on this topic.
Attached, I hope, is a program that you can also use.

Converting the file is not necessary the best way of doing this. It is better to create a new inch part file for manufacturing, then assemble the component into it. This is called Master Model, even though your part is MM, since you assemble it into an inch part file, you now can work in inches. If you convert the units, then work on it, and there are any changes, you will have to modify each and every part file that you have an operation programmed for, if you assmble it in, and a modify is needed, change it once in the master model, and all down stream apps will update.

Another issue to be aware of is when you convert the file the expressions are still in the units you had specified. The model will still be the same size.

Thank's John for the program & tip's. And you too SnakeD0ct0r. I will keep all of this in mind . I have yet to deal with assemblies. We mainly deal with one part per file. We bring in files from the designer, modify it , if needed , & make tool-path's.
