I got my first laser with the hopes of cutting PVC sheet instead of routing it for my 3D signs.

On the inside cover of the manual was a single sentence that basically said if you cut PVC with this laser you will die, you'll ruin your laser and your dog won't like you anymore... I paraphrase of course. Happy I didnt skip the manual like normal.

Some topics I would like to see others with more experience handle are:

1. Laser gantry enclosures / tube enclosures
2. Eye / Skin protection / Lead cups
3. Air movement specs / Particle scrubbing
4. Material Can / Cannot cut lists
5. Assembly damage due to material type / Air assists

Hello !

Laser safety is a very important topic ! I cannot give you all the rules in a little message, but you can see them on http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/sam/lasercc2.htm#cc2saf.

You also can buy a very usefull book :Laser Safety Management (Ken Barat ; Taylor&Francis Ed.)

DO NOT use your laser if you are not fully advised of its working rules ! It is not very difficult : use it as you were a professional !

Enjoy !

PVC is like the most dangerous material to burn (laser) isn't it?
