Does anybody know if I can attach some kind of tool probe to my Cincinatti VMC with 2100 control.
Now that I think about it - it would be nice to have probe for setting tool heights and be able to put a probe in the spindle for locating work features/PRZs.

Any thoughts?

The Renishaw probes were an option with the 2100.

Yeah, ours has a Renishaw TS27R probe. It is integrated very well into the machine. Came with a cincinnati manual to show how to use.

Renishaw is pretty much your only choice, but be careful. I don't trust either or my probes to run unattended - particularly the spindle probe it likes to take off at rapid and run into things. Renishaw admitted that there are issues with running probes on a A2100 control and felt sorry for me - giving me a good deal on a replacement probe body.

You definitely need to pay attention and watch for a damaged cable. Our's has been caught by the table and damaged numerous times, and when it's time to measure a tool the probe doesn't work, and the spindle will keep going down.......... Hand on feed over-ride the whole time.
