I got my HF running, but not very well, I using deskcnc and their older controller board. The main problem is when I cut a rib for a sample file, the y servo will not move for the curved part of the cut, I don't know if it the board not being able to send out pulses fast enough or something else.
What are most of you guy's using for running you're servo systems? Will a parallel port be fats enough for servo? I was thinking about using Turbocnc or Mach, but my servos need 20,000 sps to move 1 inch.

The DeskCNC controller runs at 45000 sps, that is not the problem. What servo drivers are you using? Can they keep up?
I usually trouble shoot an axis by swapping components one at a time to determine which one is causing the problem. motor, driver, controller axis, etc.
Does the Y axis move 1 inch if commanded to move that distance? It sound like it may not be set to the correct steps per inch.
Also check for a mechanical problem. It is not unusual to have a loose set screw on a motor/pulley/coupler that allows an axis to slip when it is moving.

I'm using geckos 320's, yes all axis work perfect when in jog and cutting rectangles part, but will not cut circles or curves. All the pilleys are pinned so their is no way they are moving. I have used a dial gauge and the sps is correct, my encoders are 250.

Will it cut the commanded path if the spindle is not turning ( while cutting air)? You may be getting some noise in the Gecko control circuit from the spindle motor.

Everything I have stated is with the spindle motor OFF. All my wires are shielded and encoder and motor wire are separate.

;) Been a while since I've posted, Paul, but here goes. If your machine moves fine with jogging and straight line motions, it doesn't sound like anything hardware related. It sounds like something in the software. Although I haven't used DeskCNC (and I'll bet it's a decent program :wave: ) I would try reloading it and double checking some of the more 'obscure' settings. The software I have used (the two you mentioned above) lets you select whether I and J callouts on circular motions are incremental or absolute. Maybe try something like that.
