I know that the Thermark LMM6000 is necesary for engrave over metal media, but can I use an alternative of this Hi Jim, I have not tried this but I have seen pics of results using cold galvanizing spray paint like this... http://www.rustoleum.com/product.asp?frm_product_id=28&SBL=1 Apparently you need to do two passes. Not sure why but the samples I saw took two passes. With one pass the marks would scrub off and with the second it was on pretty solid. I have bought some of the above paint to try but have not yet had a chance to get to it. You may be able to find something similar. I know welding shops have it in brush on form to touch up after welding galvanized steel. Dave

You could see my thread using some chemical that we could find everyday to substitute thermark.
