I have just finished my router and have been learning about its operation with a very small router but I am exceeding its capacity.

My machines cutting envelope is 50"x50"x12".

I want to buy a very nice, large(as in lots of horsepower) router.
I am looking at the Porta Cable #7518, 5 speeds and 3 1/4 HP.

Are there any other options in this size and power?

Also interested in some quick change concept for changing tools.
Whats available?

Thanks

Milwaukee makes a similar sized router to the 7518, but those are the only two fixed base routers I'm aware of in that size.

There's a company that modifies a 7518 to do auto tool changes, but they charge about $2K for it.

Milwaukee is a lot quieter than the portercable I have both, the milwaukee is on my cnc machine the porter cable sits in the case, I could not stand the noise any longer. The milwaukee also has electronic feed back to maintain speed. The protercable will never be on my cnc machine again

Milwaukee is a lot quieter and doesn't seem to have the bearing problems
that the Porter Cable had.
Gary covered it very well.
