has anyone sat with the same keyboard for years and decided to swap the ratty ol thing for a new shiney keyboard ,
i did and though ive always understood myself to be typing illit ive come to realize how my single typing finger had gotten used to where the keys are or were , a spell check at times tends to seem confused as to what i have just got done typing , i think i'm about ready to pull my cookie crum filled dusty ol keyboard back out clean it up and intoduce this one to the front wheel of my truck

am i alone here or has anyone else done this

Thats why I stick to my old IBM model M's. Those are the old "clicky" ones like at http://www.clickykeyboards.com/
My 19 year old son uses one that is a year older then he is.
I have 4 and clean them very carefully.

my old keyboard is newer than those but the keys run straight as yours do , this piece of trash is curved and its just stupid

Old is not a bad thing.
These things are a couple kilos each and very stiff so they don't slide around or flex on your desk.
Pick up a new keyboard and twist it. Some of the newer cheap ones feel like a piece of cardboard.

nothing wrong with old and i agree those are solid boards , ive hacked a couple of those babies so i can connect push buttons for a control panel for my diy project

I've had this lap top for 6 years now,its been around the world a few times with me, kids spilt pop on the keys a couple years ago and the space bar has been hit and miss ever since, cooked the hard drive outta it a year ago and had it replaced for almost the price of a new computer, sentimental or just mental i guess, but i went and bought one of thoughs roll up in a wad key boards for it, used it on 1 trip then left it home on this one, I will use it for my plasma cutter as it is sealed and no way dust can get into it, i'll just keep on going back and rehitting the space bar as im pretty much used to that now.

The best way to clean a keyboard is with lots of compressed air (from a compressor, not that canned stuff), distilled water and WD40.
After blowing out as much crap as possible, I remove the keycaps and soak everything in a pail of distilled water for a couple of hours. I then rinse in more distilled water and blow out the water with more compressed air. Once it's as dry as I can get it, I spray WD40 on some of the metal parts, put it all back together and let it dry for another day or two.
My son's 20 year old IBM model M still works like new...

You can remap your windows key or some other key you never use to be space. Google keymapping and you should find it.
Or just ebay a new one if possible, they aren't hard to change.
