Ok i decided on getting a X3 machine. Just trying to figure out the best way of getting one to Edmonton.........
If i can get one shipped from grizzly or HF to say Montana i'll be willing to drive down and pick it up. Heck I'll might even pick a few if someone else wants to chip in on fuel costs.

I just bought a machine from a place in ontario , just starting to import into Canada . Was a lot less hassle than dealing with the border , and duty . https://www.machinetoolswarehouse.com/xcart/home.php?cat=249

If you live in Edmonton why not get one in town, I just picked up my 10X18 lathe from Busy Bee on the west end. They have the MT3 which by looking at the specs seems to be the same machine. http://busybeetools.ca/cgi-bin/picture10?&NETID=1155411014082066017&NTITEM=CT129N

Some years ago I bought a combo machine from Grizzly via their local representative Busy Bee Tools. Ever since I regret having done that.
The local crowd have used it as an opportunity to print money because there has been a non competition agreement between the two. They don't stock spares unless it's a model they usually stock and Grizzly does not accept CA cards. So the moment you need spares, you are going to pay a premium.
To illustrate when the drive gears strip you can get them from Grizzly for about $3-4 each plus shipping. That's pretty good and quite a common item to break. However you can get them via the local crowd on special order for $30 each plus shipping. It also took two to three weeks longer than getting it directly.
If you work during the week like I do, it's almost impossible to get across the border to get spares because they are only open weekdays.
My advise, get local from a dealer that will support you that does not load the price.

well the main reason for wanting a X3 is the tons of ready avaiable cnc kits out there thus saving me the time putting together the parts, building brackets, motor selection etc.....
as for parts if grizzly or habour freight don't want my money i can try a few other places for parts. I plan on going belt drive any ways so no worries about broken gears. i think converting it to cnc will void any warranty anyways.
since i have a 4 day weekend i'll checkout busybee till then i will keep searching.
