All depends on what materials you want to cut, and the thickness. Please post exact details so you coukd find some solution. Lasers are available in different types eg. YAG, CO2 etc. Even a good plasma cutting system may save the day due to the low equipment cost compared to the complexity and cost of the laser.

just try CO2 laser with power around 50-60 watt. it's enough.
for what kind of machine, it's depends on your budget.
want low cost, choose chineese laser.
want high cost, but long time time laser, choose universal laser.

but i have Chinesse laser ( Rabbit laser ), and so far it's fine.
they have good service.
i'm in Indonesia, you could contact me.

You are right. I think the rabbit laser you suggested is the best for hobby & small job purpose. Have you tried cutting sheet metal on your machine, if yes what was the maximum thickness cut.

@Vishnu
CO2 laser couldn't cut metal, if you want cut metal try other like plasma, high power laser, waterjet, ect.

@zaherr,
Rabbit laser price type HX6090 under USD 5000. i forgot the exact price, because i also buy other spare part that moment.
if you want to buy CNC, what kind of CNC you want to buy?

try HX 40 from rabbit, but the controller isn't to familiar.
you could see that on other thread.
the size of table also small, maybe arround A4 paper size. also the power is 40 watt.
could cut acrylic until 5mm too.
Price around USD 1000, you could contact rabbit for sure.

better you buy directly from china.
usually supplier take margin almost 50%. my experience in Indonesia.

if i suggest when buy second hand machine, also think about the tube.
because the tube have lifetime 1000hours.
and must buy when empty. don't forget to ask about the tube.

hmm ok, i'll try that, can u redirect me to any website where i can order one? any reliable one? and how much would a c02 laser tube cost? if i buy a second hand CNC and change the laser tubing?

try this: http://www.rabbitlaser.com/
contact to Ms. Green.
you could tell her, know from nick Huahahahahaha.

the tube price depends on the power of laser 40watt / 60 watt / 80watt ?
so choose carefully.
also usually other manufacture don't sell their tube for other machine.

hmm ok, thx on on their websites, just noted down their email add. now it all depends on the price range and how they r gonna post it to malaysia... another thing, (am completely new to CNC, just started browsing about that a few days ago) how do we connect it to our pc? they give a special pci card or its directly by cable and we use thier software or is there any different method?
