View Full Version : Need Help! User Analisis & documentation of Link Motion Virtual Controller
mexico.redsail 09-23-2008, 10:49 PM Hello,
Recently i sold one of mi LM licences (USB Keys) to Mr, George Stone
he contacted Solustan asking for laser PSU hookup information and after
asking for pictures of the key, serial numbers etc, solustan claimed that they woulod help if they could autenticate the key as original, becouse there are aparentely bootlegged non working keys arround, so here is their last answer:
Hello George,
This is certainly our key. There is no question about it.
Anyway, it is good to determine that your time will not be wasted.
1. We will transfer the license for the key in your name, address, phone number, etc.
2. We will provide you the latest version of the software.
3. You will qualify for our technical support.
4. The transfer of license fee is $399 plus shipping.
5. Please, send the key to us. We will reprogram the key and send it back with the latest version of the software.
so due to the lack of support from Solustan, im starting this tread to freely document their software:
meanwhile Mr George instead of filing a lawsuit against Solustan for the lack of support hired a private investigator to locate the group of people who are bootlegging the USB keys on their soft and will negotiate to make publicly available the patch to make it work without a key with the only interest of
correctly evaluating a fully working copy of it before you decide to purchase and so more people help document this software.
all the settings seem to be allocated in the LinMotion.INI file
however very few information exists on solustan website regarding the entries in it.
the first question to ask is the one that was asked directley to them:
HOW DO YOU HOOKUP THE LASER PSU TO THE LPT PORT (THE STEPPERS, HOME, LIMIT AND E-STOP SW ARE CLEARLY NOTED ON THE OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION)
mexico.redsail 09-23-2008, 10:52 PM Im using a chinesse laser and PSU, it has analog input for power setting and ttl input as trigger,
the only way i could get it to work is hooking up the PWM ouput from the lpt(io 1) to the analog power input and the red pointer output (io 3) to the trigger input of the psu
any other working configurations ???
Thanks
Eduardo
MacGyver 09-24-2008, 08:06 AM I'm confused... it appears as if Solustan is happy to work with George, even offering to change the key to his name and upgrading the key with the latest software for a fee (although the fee is somewhat extreme, IMO). Why would he sue a company that is happy to help, and on what grounds would he sue them?
mexico.redsail 09-24-2008, 08:43 AM Hello,
1. We will transfer the license for the key in your name, address, phone number, etc.
the licence of the software does not say anything about being non transferible or thhat is issued to original purchaser
2. We will provide you the latest version of the software.
isn't the latest version available as download from their site to all users??
3. You will qualify for our technical support.
as a seller of a product they are obligated to supply tech support for it since they offer that at their site
4. The transfer of license fee is $399 plus shipping.
nobody say´d this befor purchasing and what about shipping ???
5. Please, send the key to us. We will reprogram the key and send it back with the latest version of the software.
do all buyers need to ship their key for upgrades ???

1) Does the user license say the license is transferable? Just because it does not explicitly say the license is not transferable doesn't mean that it is. You made that assumption.
2) Again, you assume the license was directly transferable. Free software upgrades are most likely available to registered users. Since George is not the registered user, he doesn't qualify for free upgrades.
3) Yet again, you assume... technical support should only be available to registered users, of which George is not.
4) Did you ask Solustan if licenses could be transfered before sending the key to George? If it can be, did you ask them if there is a fee for such a transfer? It appears you made two more assumptions that turned out to be incorrect.
5) Prior versions of their software may work with prior version of key firmware. To use the latest code, they may need to update the key's firmware to make sure they work in unison. Or maybe not... that's their call.
meanwhile Mr George instead of filing a lawsuit against Solustan for the lack of support hired a private investigator to locate the group of people who are bootlegging the USB keys on their soft and will negotiate to make publicly available the patch to make it work without a key with the only interest of

George most likely failed to file a lawsuit against Solustan because there was no case. I highly doubt George would hire a PI to find this group of bootleggers for a myriad of reasons, the chief reason being it's not his problem... even if he were to find them and shut them down, it will still not change his lack of software registration with Solustan.
None of your claims make any sense in the real world, and it appears as if you are suggesting reverse engineering their hardware key and giving the patch to the general public... something that's going to get you arrested, sued in civil court, and booted from this board.

I dont know what happened, and you are right , that probably wont change much.

IM NOT MAKING ANY CLAIMS, i just want to document the functions and software settings, i have no interest nor i encurage any one to reverse engineer or crack that software, if george decides to do so is up to him,.
can any one interested in forming a support forum please help out, i see many "corel" "photoshop" "autocad" support forums, why can`t we start a "Link Motion Support forum" i pesonally like the software, and this would be helpfull for people considering purchasing LM so they can get a fully working DEMO without lossing the time of functionability of the demo trying to figure out how to wire it or configure it.
Thanks
