Define table size in LaserCut program,it must be equal to real sizes of worktable in laser device. If you turn the laser on ,first use datuming function.
This function let the machine know where the laser head actually is.
It can prevent crashing. If the parts for cutting are bigger to table size or they are out of area, program shows it, as an error but head does't move.

If the laser head crashes while datuming,it can be range switch problem.

Good luck.

If everything with switches and table size is OK then you should check the "pulse unit" parameter.
Chapter6 User manual
If the datuming doesn'n work properly check parameter datum(Pdir/Ndir)
6.2 Worktable User Manual.
Have you noticed problem with one or both axis?

If you still have a problem,we will try to solve it ithe other way.

What happens when you 'reset' and the head moves to the home switches?

On my machine (also 900x600) and running lasercut 5.0, the table size looks like it's set in the options (CTRL+J) under Worktable where the X-axis range is set to 900.0 and Y-axis to 600.0

On both of those, the 'Pulse Unit' is normally set to 0.0056250000

thank you all for your replies, the situation at present is when auto datumming the laser head seams to want to go further back than the set point, the laser head then mwill move round the table but stops about 150mm short on both axis, the settings in lasercut 5 are set at 900mmx600mm, i set the laser to cut a square of 60mmx60mm but actual size cut was 53mmx53mm

After you turn the laser on,run the laser cut program.
Then you should pres "RESET" on control panel.
The laser head should go to the right "upper" corner and stop.
If the table size parameter is OK ,the head will no go out of table area.
Now the 'Pulse Unit' is very important parameter but not only.
The second parameter is industrialy set by dipswitch in step motor controler.
Try to read pulse unit and dipswitch setting if you can,and send in next message.(for both axis)
I think this is the main reason of your troubles.
You can send picture of switches ,it can be very usefull.
We try to solve the problem. You must start use your laser and earn the money at last.

Spacer,

Did you first download the config file from Lasercut into your laser machines memory? Did you get a beep tone when it completed?

Yes.
The first question is ,what kind of controler you have in your laser.
Is it Control card in PC or Controler in laser conected USB cable?
How could I forget to ask you

<o></o> I was working on the LG900 (pci, LaserCut v. 5.0)without any problem. I just engraved a logo and was working with the software with the machine on, drawing some shapes and adding a bitmap image when suddenly the software started calculating and behaving strange.<o></o>
<o></o>
I thought it could be the softare, and I even completely formatted the hard drive of the pc, reinstalled windows xp, reinstalled the laser card drives, reinstalled LaserCut 5.0 and the dog. After reinstalling LaserCut, I did not change any parameter. This did not fix the problem.<o></o><o></o>

What happens is this:<o></o>
<o></o>
I start the laser, open Lasercut. Everything is OK so far.<o></o>
I can move the laser head on x and y and z from the software, no problem.<o></o>
<o></o>
If I hit datum on the pc, the laser head moves to 900,600 just fine, but then hundreds of windows pop up saying “data exceeds working table”. I have to close Lasercut. When I open laser cut again, the laser head starts moving diagonally to 0,0 and hits the table, trying to continue to move on that direction. The only way to stop is pushing the emergency button. The buttons at the control panel in the machine do not work either.<o></o>
<o></o>
Other problem is that if I draw any shape, for example a rectangle, the machine starts to calculate immediately and the laser starts working without me pressing the “begin” button, and the laser does the same shape over and over again. The only way to stop the machine is through the emergency button because nothing else works.<o></o>
<o></o>
Since I reinstalled the software even formatted the hard disk and reinstalled windows xp, it does not seem to be a software problem.<o></o>
<o></o>
How can I correct this?<o></o>
<o></o>
Of course this happened in the middle of a production :)

Thanks in advance for any input.
