A couple of years ago I bought a Sherline 4000 lathe from Ebay. Very nice machine, and after some time I fell for the idea of converting this to a CNC mill. I bough a milling column from a SpectraLight mill, also on Ebay, and assembled my now finished CNC machine :)

As I am an electronics engineer, there is not much fancy machining done in this conversion, only some adaption of couplings and assembly based upon the Sherline CNC upgrade kit. Still a fun project to work on.

I have made a website for sharing my hobby projects, and carried away in enthusiasm as I usually get, I registered my own domene for the site :D I am very interrested in mechanics and electronics, so I ended up with (www.hobbymechatronics.com).

A description with a lot of images of the conversion can be found at http://hobbymechatronics.com/mechanics-projects/11-sherline-cnc-conversion?showall=1. I hope some of you find this interesting :)

As soon as I get started milling with my machine I will update my site with the different projects. For now I just need to finish my updated stepper drivers before I can get going on the really cool machining part :D
