Hi,I'm having trouble with drip feed dnc link.Machine is shutting down. Axis drive error in middle of program.Needs to re-home.Shutting down in different spots of program.
Tried the baud rate at 9600,4800,2400,600 thought this would fix the problem did not.Not sure what to do.If anyone could help I would be very thankful.

Has to be port B and is fixed by Bridgeport at 4800 baud.
I used EZLINk to transfer programs but never to DNC. By using loops and macros I could make 7 complex parts per vise with 2 vises on the table. Lots of memory left over.
It is supposed to be a strictly DOS program (mine was on a MAC). Maybe someone else has hands on experience with DNC on a BOSS 9. Your program also has to be posted correctly if using a CAM system.

I know how annoying this is! I have traced this classic problem on both R2E3 and R2E4 machines to bad DC power supply connections. If you can monitor the DC voltages with a voltmeter, at the front panel (monitor +5 volts first), watch for sagging or slowly decreasing voltage, which "will shut down the servos" and require the machine to be rezeroed again. Sometimes reseating all connectors, plugs, and fuses you can find in the cabinets will do the job. (on one occasion I had to replace the connector at the low voltage DC power pupply). On other occasions I had to reset "out of spec" voltages (by adjusting output V) to their origional values. Look at both these possibilities.

By monitoring the voltage at the front panel, did you mean the control panel with the pushbuttons?

Yes, the power supply voltages, at the point of connection to the front control panel (push button panel). The low voltage power supply is located in the servo drive cabinet on the Boss9. Most boss 8,9 supplies I believe have a pot on the supply to adjust at least one of these voltages. When an adjustment was not available, and the voltage was high, I added a 10W sandblock resistor at the supply output to drop the output to the specified value. (watch for sagging or decreasing voltages that coincide with machine shutdown, especially the +5V)

Correction, port B can be set up to communicate from 1200 to 9600 baud, always start at the lowest, then once proper operation is verified, you can go faster.
