What is the best way to DNC to a Bridgeport VMC-760/22? Should I go with the laptop (USB to RS232 cable)? If heard of issues with the cables crapping out at times. Desktop?? How does everyone else do it? I think I read that the largest program you can load via floppy is 256K due to limits on the BMDC board, any truth to it?
Thanks

The BMDC runs the machine. When you save and load, the save goes to the mass storage device (hard drive) the load goes to the BMDC memory which is 256KB.
The typical way that most of my customers DNC is to transfer the program to the hard drive of the machine by RS232 or other. Then under the run screen there is a DNC set up. I believe it is a F key.
Other communication: I have a few mold shops that have loaded WIN 3.11 for work groups, installed a ethernet board and transfer large programs to the hard drive very quickly for DNC.

Thanks, I purchased a card and cable. Went in and tried to run it today but ran into a few problems. I am using Bobcad V22 and Predator.
So, I send the file to the machine from my laptop, while I am at the machine control, i hit 4 (load remote) - that brings up 1 (send x on x off), 2 (rec x on x off), 3 send EZ link, 4 rec EZ link, and 5 rec pts.
i go with 2 (rec x on x off) - that brings up f2 (exit), f3 (load), and f4 (baud)
i go with f3 (load) which brings up:
XFR From
Path1 C:txtfiles file (enter)
basically it looks the F6 load screen from the main menu which i use to load the programs from the hard drive. It has a list of the programs saved on my hard drive.
I wasnt sure what to do on that screen, so i just typed in my file name and hit enter. then another screen pops up that says:
File
working....<esc> to abort
blocks recd :
F2 to exit
This screen did nothing as far as i could tell, i was thinking that the blocks recd would be counting up or something. So after a few minutes, i abort and exit, as it looks like nothing happened. When i go back to load another program from my harddrive, my program that i was trying to send it there. I open it up, but there isn't any data in it. Its receiving my file name only, with no data. Just wondering what the correct way to do this is??

Hi Bink,
I think you can drip feed your program right off of the floppy. Go to the the " Run " screen and touch F10 for DNC. One of the options is run from disk, (option 1). You can then change to A: drive and drip from the floppy disk which is 1.44 meg. Or you can copy it and drip from C: drive as was mentioned. If your program is larger than 1.44 meg you will have to go the rs232 route. I have done this many times on an EZTrak. But not on the Torque-cut. This may help you,... maybe not.
Good Luck!
Thanks, I will try today at work. How do I use the cable instead of the floppy? Its on a vmc-760/22.
got it working, thanks to all for the help.
