Other than the BIG FREAKING SERVOS, would it really be that hard to make your garage into a mini version of this? Bet it could be done for under $10k. You could still use a high-end router motor too, if all you are cutting is foam.

That would be a killer steup to have one set a the garage.

I wonder if you could get your wife to believe that this will empty the cat litter box and take the trash out? :)

Cool toy! Thanks for sharing it.

Why not? I worked with a machine about this big for some wing moulds. We went from 2" ball end mill to a 1/8" ball end mill on the parts. 12-16 hours to cut a part, 13' x 4' x 1', cool stuff.

I know when lasers first became simi affordable, you could buy one (if you could get financing) and be guarantied enough work to choke you. Of course not my kid could get one and put it in his room so this isn't true any more but I wounder if owning a machine that big guaranties any kind of customer base?

(I know nothing in life is realy gaurantied but you all know what I mean.)

DAAAAAAMNNNN BUT THOSE THINGS ARE HUGE!

miljnor, we have a couple (not quite that big) that are just sitting there doing nothing. Pretty sad really. But we limit ourselves to the aircraft industry. Maybe we could change out the coolant for just soapy water and use them as a car wash? Insert $150/hr into slot and pull forward. ;)

mikejkd, I'm just a little south of Wichita Kansas. 'They' say we're going to get busier and have to start hiring people though. We'll see.
