View Full Version : New Screen design for Mach3 (Video)
ynneb 07-24-2008, 03:50 AM What do you think of this sort of screen for mach3. Its designed for touch screens. You dont need a mouse or a keyboard for this one. Note the on screen keypad that pops up. I will make sure the guy who made this screen will drop in and answer any of your questions.
EDIT: You can test it out online if you want.

Obviously its a simulation but the navigation works.

Protronie 07-25-2008, 05:57 PM Not bad, not bad at all... I like it.
Good Job!
Todd Price 07-25-2008, 07:49 PM Is Jason going to be selling these screens?
tauntdesigns 07-25-2008, 08:20 PM I totally like it!
How, when, and where?

I am not sure what is to be done with this screen and or If he is selling it or not. I am sure he will tell us soon.

Mick40 07-25-2008, 09:31 PM Does he have a screen that is for plasma? If so, I'm in!

Jason3 07-25-2008, 10:12 PM Wow, that looks really nice.
What resolution screen was this designed for - how would you expect it to go on a small 6-7" widescreen (800 x 480) such as those designed for car pc's? I have one of these, have tried it with the simple 3 axis screen set and it goes ok, but this one looks more comprehensive. Some of the tabs look big and clear, others might be a bit busy for the small screen. It would be good to ensure lots of contrast between text/background - a lot of touch screens aren't that bright.
Another idea that has aroused my interest is controlling mach3 via an iPod touch. I've been viewing/controlling my mac with the iPod with VNC, hoping to try it with mach3 soon. My reason for mentioning this was that a touchscreen interface like this but suited to the low res ipod would really facilitate this.
Looking forward to hearing about availability!
Regards,
Jason
ynneb 07-26-2008, 02:41 AM Its not made for a resolution, its scales to any size. Obviously the smaller it scales to, the harder it is to read text etc. 6-7 inch is pushing it a bit. You would need a pen to activate the buttons. I know Jason has lots of other screens, maybe there is one that suits smaller monitors better. I have given him the link to this thread, so I expect some input soon.
ger21 07-26-2008, 06:43 AM Benny, any idea on the ETA of the new Flash docs?
ynneb 07-26-2008, 07:02 AM Gerry I know Jason has recently resumed employment with Brian, I suspect the docs will be coming soon. As I have stopped doing stuff with Artsoft, I am no longer in the know.
I do know that Jason has put in months working on the code (Unpaid) so I am not sure how much will filter through. I expect basic codes for flash will be about the limit of it. Also working in flash has its own skills that we probably wont expect Artsoft to be documenting.

Not looking for that, just what's needed to get a screen to run Mach. :) There was a recent discussion on the Yahoo group which let Brian know what was needed. I just though you might know. Thanks.
