Hi all!
I would like to get some opinions on components for my next CNC Mill.
I'm taking Servo drives in the range of 1200 oz. inch
Gecko 340 or Rutex??
I'm also thinking of using up to 3 separate power Supplies, would there be any benefit?
Mach 3 control Software or other?
What boards would you use?
What about a Pendant?
What real benefit do you see in mounting encoders to the Screw rather than the motor that will have a 2 -1 reduction.
The Machine will also be enclosed for total flood Coolant.

Guys, I'm brainstorming here! I am looking for educated opinions. I would love to hear what you think.

For powersupply: Check out this, This is a large PS KL- 7220 Specification: $189/pcs
Unregulated Power Supply 1440W, 72VDC/20A ,120VAC or
230VAC (Kelinginc.net)

Software; I love EMC2, it's free and has got me started CNC'ing and I don't think I will ever look back. It's pretty awesome and everything it does.

What type of machine are you going too use? Some of the stuff you are talking about sounds like it will be overkill for any of the machines in this forum (Not all but most).

Keling and Gecko have some real nice drives that you should look into. They can take in like 70 or more volts (Some).

Pendants are nice, I don't have one but I plan in the future on setting one up. There convenient.

As for encoders, I don't have an answer for you.

Cnc4pc carries a few MPG pendants (http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/index.php?cPath=40&osCsid=550011d1301e54079846d0a0d997f864)
