Any advice/tips/hints/links etc re converting a rotary table to provide an additional axis (A or C). My main concern is eliminating backlash - as far as possible. That probably rules out all the cheap stuff! I'll be using a 6" to 8" diameter table, powered by servo.

I guess replacing the handle with a motor is the obvious route but are there alternative methods worth considering?

Backlash is only a problem if you intend to reverse direction. MOST tables have BL adjustment of some kind.

Yep, I need to rotate the table in both directions so any slop in the mechanism would be a problem.

The Phase II brand is a good choice, we have converted several and they have low backlash.

The price is good also.
