hello, i was wondering if there is a setting on a vf2 ss non usb/ethernet that will let me save program names to 8 numbers instead of 5. I read about some machine having this setting but it was a while ago and can;t remember if it was for hass. Not at work so i can;t check ,...
thanks
The program name; that is the Onnnnn, at the top of a program is one letter and five numbers.
The file name under which so save a program onto a usb drive or floppy uses the normal 8.3 format; i.e. ABCDEFGH.txt
Or you can use the Program name Onnnnn.txt
Or for that manner any name that works for Windows; only the first eight characters will show up in the directory list on the Haas when you open the usb or floppy.

Thanks for the quick reply, yah that bit me today, haven;t seen o2222~.txt in a while, like since windows 95 or 98. I made the mistake of copying my laptop "O2222 v1.5 1 1/8 - 20.txt" to the cnc and it truncated the file.
But what i was refering to was a post somewhere i saw that some machines have a setting on/off that lets you specify Onnnnnnnn instead on Onnnnn. I may of miss read it, it was almost a year ago,.
Are you sure it was referring to the program name? I while back Haas did change things so the line numbering could go above 5 digits; now I think it is possible to number up to 8 digits, 10 million lines. But I have never seen anything about the program name being different.
