Hi, I have succesuflly controlled the motors connected to the routout 2.5A driver using EMC2. However, in order to optimize this, I'd like to know how I can match time requirements of the driver as given in the data sheet:

"Timing Requirements
200nS Minimum Command active time before step pulse.
1.0uS Minimum command active time after step pulse.
1.0uS Minimum step Low time. "

with the inputs required by EMC2:
"step time" / "step space" / "direction hold" / "direction setup"

Thanks in advance!

I converted it and added it to this page:

http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?Stepper_Drive_Timing

Record your present settings and change one at a time then test in stepconf. If you find that the numbers need tweeking just let me know and I'll adjust the web page.

Keep in mind that you will have to pick either high speed, good torque or a comprise between the two you want with that board via the jumpers for micro stepping. High microstepping gives you best low speed performance and single stepping gives you the most speed. The other limitation is the latency of your computer and how fast pulses can be made.

I hope I helped

John

Many thanks, I will let you know of the results of my tests in case the web page needs some updating!
