I am a beginner at software and I can't even use Lazy Cam. I have engineered and built a tabletop CNC router, it is wired and runs off of Mach 3 programming. I am now stuck and lost as to what the easiest software to use may be. 20 yrs experience in machining, 0 in software. I want some kind of basic Cam program. :drowning:

Get SheetCAM. It's about as basic as a CAM can be and still generate good G-CODE. The transition from machining and spinning handwheels to doing things on a screen can be a bigger hurdle than the building of a CNC table. You can try out SheetCAM for free but it will only post 150 lines of code. There is a tutorial with it and the Yahoo SheetCAM group is full of helpful people that were where you are a year ago (:-)

there's some tutorial videos you can download if you can find them, some at youtube. Not always too specific step-by-step (especially if you're using a different software), but may help out in general than just figuring it out on your own

Check out VCarve Pro from Vectric (http://www.vectric.com/). Very easy to use and well worth the price.
