Hi,

I'm a newbe with a question.

I have a shizuka cnc mill with a Yasnac 3000G controller. There is a GRECO MTIC installed also. I have MasterCam on a dedicated computer for the mill. I'm told by Greco that I need a software called WinDnc they sell for about $1000 to make everything i have work together.

Since this is a hobby shop setup, i don't want to spend that kind of money. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to get my MasterCam design over to my Shizuka CNC Mill.

Thanks for the help, Regards, Chuck

Chuck,

You should be able to use a program called Hyper Terminal that is
included with Windows XP. (program files, accessories).I do not know how to set it up but maybe some else here on this forum does.

I looked at hyper terminal and it wants a phone number for dialing into the device (milling machine).

Don't thinks this is going to get me there.

It can be done with hyperterminal. And there are other free programs out there. For us mear mortals, setting these up is so hard that the $1K program from your vendor looks cheap.

It can be done with Mastercam's built-in communications too. :D

Mike, If i use MasterCam's built in communications do i go straight to the Yasnac controller or to the Greco MTIC?

Hyperterminal is a pain to set up, I have a copy of Terminal that came with windows 3.1. it is much better for this and will run under later windows.
Also I believe Cadem Lite is still available free from their site, it is specifically for CNC.

Al, if I use windows 3.1 Hyperterminal or Cadem lite, do i go through the Greco MTIC or go directly to the Yasnac 3000G controller.

Thanks,
Chuck
