Well I tried to jog my machine for the first time and got nothing. I'm running turbocnc. The next thing I did was connect the ENA#'s to the ground point on molex on driver. This didn't help. Everything seems to be hooked-up ok.
My next guess is what about parallel port cable. Is it wired all the way through as some say. I just bought it the other day at best buy. Maybe the ini file in turbo cnc. How do I figure the "uS" for the driver? Any other checklists?

Easiest way to find out may be to start with the controller, using some type of external source [even 3x 1.5v batteries for 4.5v] to physically apply 5v to the step input [other source disconnected], and the stepper 'should' move..

to check pulse coming in a led with ??10k resistor should give a visible pulse indication off the step or direction lines in to the controller..

First, do your motors lock up when you turn on the power supply? If not, you have a problem. If they do lock up, it's probably a TurboCNC configuration problem.

Can you hook it up with just the cable that comes with the Xylotex? This will tell you if your parallel cable is good or not.

Pulse width should work fine from 2-5uS.

Make sure you set the right parallel port in TurboCNC.

Just yesterday I discovered that the culprit is the parallel port cable. I finally came to my senses and checked a few pins with my multi-meter and got no ohms. This question probably does not belong here but is there an identification # or something that specifies if a p-port cable is wired to all pins? Some I have seen do not specify this. Oh, and yes my motor does lock-up. thanks

There are serial and parallel printer cables, the latter costs more. I found this out the hard way way back when with an old dot matrix printer, as it needed a full parallel cable.

It seems, from what I understand, I don't have much of a choice being that I need a fully wired p-port cable. Or do I have a choice?

I may have been corrected from an emplyee. It seems as though serial cables have db25 pin on both sides.

No choice, just go out and buy a full parallel cable at a computer store.

It seems stores down here in louisiana are not stocking these cables. I went ahead and ordered one from pccables.com. There out of sunny florida
