Hi Guys,

Firstly thanks to everyone who has posted there is certainly a great deal of useful information on this forum in relation to CNC and in particular Torchmate (funnily enough in a Torchmate Sub Forum)

Anyway after many hours of reading and researching I have almost completed my decision to purchase a Torchmate 1 Kit and build a CNC Cutting table for it.

Now I have seen on a couple of threads with buildups and some great ideas people have put into play.

Now I have decided on a Torchmate 1 kit I need to work out what design my table should take and how I should best deal with the issue of plasma dust and general crap all over the floor.

So I am thinking I need some sort of catching setup under the table and from what I can see I have a few options:

Option 1 – Fluid Tank

Question – do you keep the water level just below the base of the material being cut or do you place the material in the water like you see on some of those car shows ?

Question – What sort of a mess does this make ?

Option 2 – Hopper – although I haven’t seen one yet, has anyone seen one setup ?

Question – Could you use fans or compressed air to give it some positive pressure / suction (like we use in the race cars to keep the dust out of the cab )

Question – How much dust do the put up ? would just a simple hopper work without anything just catching the drool and drops ?

Option 3 – Any others ?

Lastly does anyone know of a good place to find pictures of completed tables ? Like a CNC Cutting Table gallery ?

Thanks for your time and I look forward to starting my build.

Welcome to CNC Zone

A water table is a good solution to catching most (not all) of the great amount of metallic "dust" generated by plasma arc cutting.

Water touching or slightly below the back side of the material being cut works well & can help to reduce warpage of the work piece.

Some systems use exhaust fans below the work area or in a canopy above the table.

Click HERE (http://www.cnczone.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=251) for project logs that have pictures included by myself & many other builders of their tables or kit assemblies.

Have fun with your project.:)
