What are the experences with the Leadwell VMC??? Good or Bad. It is a MVC-760E 1988 model. It has a Mitsubihi Medulas control on it.

Thanks,

I have a friend who has one.
He has retrofitted the control with a PC based high speed control.
He also has a high speed 20,000 RPM spindle on it.
He made a mold for us in less than 3 hours that took us over 24 hours of machine time to cut, no kidding... The mold is sitting next to my desk.

I'm sure he would not mind if you contacted him.

I owned a 1987 MCV-0 that I bought from a company back east. I had a FANUC control, but the machine itself was a great tool. Solid and well built. I was really surprized how much of a load it would take. I only had 8K spindle and pushed it for everything it was worth. It worked fine!
That's my nickle's worth!

The Leadwell Company that made that vintage went bankrupt around 1994-6 and the assets and trademark got bought by the Fair Freind group. Parts for older machines could be a problem.

Should be no problem with control parts though.
